The reclusive metal-faced rapper has unveiled a new collaboration, with an album slated for release in May.

DOOM has a raft of impressive collaborations to his name: there was Madvillain (with Madlib), DANGERDOOM (with Danger Mouse) and the brilliantly named Nastradoomus (DOOM remixes of Nas). In keeping with the tradition, the new collab – with chameleonic producer Jneiro Jarel – is titled JJ DOOM, and will be released on Lex records.

You can take an early listen to the fruits of their labour below. The high energy of ‘Banished’ sees DOOM ratcheting things up from his usual measured pace – though somehow he still manages to cram in more obscure analogies than your average rapper could manage in a full album.

Ahead of the album’s release, the pair will DJ together at a one-off Boiler Room session next Tuesday, February 21.
