Widely mourned electronica-cum-indie combo Grandaddy are to reunite for a series of live dates in 2012.

As The Quietus reports, the California combo are set to headline Dorset’s End Of The Road festival, with further UK live dates to follow. Grandaddy’s sound, arguably perfected on 2000’s The Sophtware Slump, married frontman Jason Lytle’s delicate voice and indie-pop sensibilities with a charming palette of electronic sounds.

When the band fell apart in 2006 after fourteen years service, Lytle painted a fairly bleak picture of their collective headspace. In an NME interview, he asked: “We’ve been doing this for a long time and you have to ask yourself ‘Why am I beating myself up like this?’…week after week, month after month, year after year.” It’s great to hear that a band as winningly quirky as Grandaddy have been invested with a new lease of life.

End Of The Road runs from August 31-September 2 at Dorset’s Larmer Tree Gardens. Grandaddy join a line-up that includes Grizzly Bear, Dirty Beaches, Willis Earl Beal and Toy.
