Fledgling music award The Scottish Album Of The Year has now filleted down their longlist of twenty albums.

Ten albums make the shortlist. Rustie’s Glass Swords, Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat’s Everything’s Getting Older and Mogwai’s Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will are the obvious shoo-ins (interestingly, Beta Band’s Steve Mason didn’t make the cut). Lesser known acts include Conquering Animal Sound and Happy Particles.

The winner will bag a £20,000 cheque. Every artist on the shortlist has already banked a £1000 prize, plus a free artwork from a Glasgow School Of Art student. The winner will be announced on June 19 at Glasgow’s Film City. The shortlist is as follows:

Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat – Everything’s Getting Older
Conquering Animal Sound – Kammerspiel
Happy Particles – Under Sleeping Waves
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins – Diamond Mine
Mogwai – Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will
Mungo’s Hi Fi – Forward Ever
Remember Remember – The Quickening
