1972 Records, the folks behind those Selected Ambient Works Vol II represses, have announced plans to make further headway into Aphex Twin’s catalogue.

Exclaim report that the label are set to reissue 1995’s I Care Because You Do and 1996’s Richard D James Album on vinyl. The former, famously James’ last record produced using an analogue setup, saw the producer introducing abrasive and unpredictable elements into the sort coruscating electronica found on Surfing On Sine Waves. The latter, meanwhile, is arguably his best-loved album, an astonishingly assured grab-bag of skittish song-suites and startlingly pretty song craft.

No bonus goodies or long-lost tracks with either release, we’re afraid, but the opportunity to hold two of the landmark electronic records of the decade on freshly minted vinyl is good enough for us. Both records are due in the coming months. You can listen to …I Care Because You Do‘s wonderfully lithe ‘Alberto Balsalm’ below.
