‘Mother of the World’ is a 10 minute tour de force from the post-punk titans.

As Swans’ Michael Gira told FACT, “There are gentle moments on the album, of course, but it’s more about those overwhelming waves of sound.” He might as well have been describing ‘Mother of the World.”

The song begins with a jagged churn that eventually recedes to reveal a swaying bit of melodrama; both movements are hypnotic, in their own way. ‘Mother of the World’ appears on The Seer, which is out August 28 via Young God records.
