The saga continues: two members of Pussy Riot flee the country as Russian police pressure mounts.

As has been widely reported, three members of the punk collective were given two year jail sentences for their anti-Putin performance at a church altar.

In a bit of Russian justice, the police are using the collective’s anonymity against them. ”If you put some unidentified persons on the wanted list”, claimed Pussy Riot lawyer Mark Feigin, “then you can arrest whoever you want in a balaclava.” Russian police continue to search for members of the group that were part of the protest.

According to The Guardian, however, a Twitter account called Pussy Riot Group claimed that “In regard to the pursuit, two of our members have successfully fled the country! They are recruiting foreign feminists to prepare new actions!” Still, the collective counts at least another dozen members that are still at risk of arrest.

Pyotr Verzilov, the husband of one of the convicted members, said that the two members who have fled Russia took part in the cathedral protest. “Since the Moscow police said they are searching for them, they will keep a low profile for now. They are in a safe place beyond the reach of the Russian police,” which likely means a country which has no extradition agreement with Russia.
