Brooding duo ERAAS announce debut album; download a Silent Servant remix inside

New Brooklyn label Felte will be opening for business with the debut LP from doom-mongers ERAAS.

ERAAS, aka Robert Toher and Austin Stawiarz, emerged last year from the remains of Noughties post-rockers Apse. The pair’s aim is purportedly to explore more occult territory than their previous gig allowed them. Fittingly, their self-titled debut – recorded in a “rambling, atmospheric mansion” in Massachusetts – is a gloomy affair, setting murky harmonies over the sort of percussion death-rattle you’d expect from a Vatican Shadow record.

The album will be prefaced by a single, ‘Briar Path’. Alongside the dour original, the release will feature new remixes from The KVB and Sandwell District’s Silent Servant. FACT have an exclusive download of the Silent Servant revision below, and it shows Juan Mendez continuing to balance his divergent interests in bone-dry techno and gloomy post-punk. It’s a tightly coiled, disconcerting interpretation, and one that bodes well for Mendez’s forthcoming Negative Fascination LP on Hospital.

ERAAS is due on October 1 on Felte.
