Rick Ross returns with a veritable seudat mitzvah of new music

Never someone with a particularly firm grip on reality, the Maybach Music Group boss has outdone himself with the ludicrously titled The Black Bar Mitzvah mixtape. Ross has a crack at some of the biggest jams of the year: G.O.O.D Music’s ‘Mercy’, 2 Chainz’s ‘Birthday’, Juicy J’s ‘Bands A Make Her Dance’ and a bunch of up-and-coming Chi-town thug rap (‘I Don’t Like’/Lil Reese’s ‘Us’) all get re-vox’d. Drake stops by with a guest verse, and MMG affiliates Gunplay and Omarion both feature.

As Prefix report, not everyone’s feeling the tape. One-time Bad Boy rapper (and orthodox Jewish convert) Shyne has unleashed a volley of critical remarks about Ross’ cross-cultural borrowings, saying “First they criticize me for being a Jew, now they’re favorite fake rapper is having a black bar mitzva? GTFOH”. His barbs, which range from the well-worn “Rick Ross was a cop” jibes to suggestions he “donate a % of his earnings to ending inner city genocide”, are up on his Twitter page.
