An ancient Dinosaur Jr. live performance is to be immortalised on wax.
Chocomel Daze (Live 1987) will arrive on Merge Records next month. The 11-track LP was recorded in 1987 at Nijmegen in the Netherlands, and captures the band in the middle of their first European tour. The record captures the band in the wake of their 1987 classic You’re Living All Over Me album, and features their vintage J.Mascis/Lou Barlow/Murph line-up. Touted as a celebration of You’re Living All Over Me‘s 25th birthday, Chocomel Daze (Live 1987) will arrive on 150 gram vinyl.
Frontman (and, we recently discovered, potential Nirvana member) J. Mascis gets all dewy-eyed in the accompanying press release: “It was amazing to get hotels and food. We were treated a million times better than we were used to in the States. And only driving like 45 minutes a day to the next Dutch town. Good times”.
Dinosaur Jr. might be sauntering down memory lane in this instance, but the trio can hardly be accused of resting on their laurels: new album I Bet On Sky arrived last month, and is their third studio LP since their 2005 reformation.
Chocomel Daze (Live 1987) is due on November 19.
