R&B black sheep Abel Tesfaye – trading, of course, as The Weeknd – is gearing up to release his retrospective Trilogy compilation.

Trilogy will contain remastered versions of the Canadian singer’s astonishing 2011 run of mixtapes (House Of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes Of Silence) plus a bundle of new material. We’ve already been privy to new videos and remastered old cuts, but the first taste of brand new music has now arrived.

A 30 second preview clip, spotted over at Prefix, features images of fireworks erupting in the night sky. The track snippet, meanwhile, isn’t quite as explosive, suggesting listeners will be in for an unusually clean-cut ballad when the record finally drops. “You will continue to get what you fell in love with”, Tesfaye tells us – here’s hoping the new Trilogy material vaults the very, very high bar.

Trilogy arrives on November 13, courtesy of Republic.
