Damon Albarn’s latest gig: composing musique concrète for Auntie.

As reported, ‘Radio Reunited’ was commissioned by the BBC to celebrate 90 years of radio broadcasts by the Beeb. At 5.33pm yesterday, 60 different BBC radio stations across the globe aired Albarn’s piece, which featured audio recordings from listeners as well as a host of distinctly British cultural signifiers.

For those who missed it, the three minute composition – titled ‘Radio Reunited’ – can be streamed in full below. It’s a zany, cluttered set, perhaps easier to admire than enjoy. Still, it’s nice to think that up to 120 million people spent yesterday afternoon listening to what sounds like a Matthewdavid B side. Head over to the BBC to download the piece.
