Austria’s Donaufestival has made its first line-up announcements for 2013.

The festival, now in its ninth year, takes place in Krebs on two consecutive long weekends. On April 25-27, Geoff Barrow headlines with performances from two of his non-Portishead collaborative projects, BEAK> and Drokk, Simian Mobile Disco play a DJ set, and krautrock legend Michael Rother presents a set of Neu!, Harmonia and solo material. There are label showcases for Tri Angle (The Haxan Cloak, oOoOO, Evian Chris, WIFE) and PAN (Lee Gamble, SND, Bill Kouligas, NHK’Koyxen), and appearances from some of the buzziest names in contemporary electronic music: Laurel Halo, Andy Stott, Raime, Demdike Stare, Pete Swanson, Emptyset, Holly Herndon, Actress and more.

On May 2-5, the programme includes performances from Disintegration Loops man William Basinski, Suicide’s Martin Rev, Syrian dabke dynamo Omar Souleyman, Gatekeeper, Manorexia, Ghostpoet, Girls Against Boys & David Yow, !!!, The Gaslamp Killer, How To Dress Well, Mi Ami, Biosphere, Zoviet*france and more.

With an extensive programme of extra-musical performance, theatre, art and installations also in place, it’s shaping up to be a vintage year for Donaufestival. Day tickets and the detailed programme will be available by the beginning of March; in the meantime, reduced price weekend festival passes are available for early birds at €58 per weekend.
