Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds plan live webcast

The Los Angeles “launch party” for the band’s latest album will be streamed online.

Push The Sky Away is due out next week (although, in the style du jour, it is streaming online already). As previously announced, the band has planned launch parties in four cities (London, Paris, Berlin, and LA) that include a performance of the album — with accompanying strings and choir — and a screening of a short film about the making of the record.

The Los Angeles launch party takes place on February 21 at the Fonda Theatre and will be presented live by Rockfeedback on their Youtube channel. Also, on February 19, Nick Cave will be hosting “the world’s first-ever Vine Q&A on Twitter.”

Both of these Internet-friendly developments dovetail nicely with Cave’s description of the album: “these songs convey how on the internet profoundly significant events, momentary fads and mystically-tinged absurdities sit side-by-side and question how we might recognise and assign weight to what’s genuinely important.” [via Pitchfork]

Update: The band has added more North American dates and an expansive European slate to their tour; the full list is below, via Consequence of Sound.
