Caribou to reissue early LPs on vinyl

Record Store Day update #048593: a trio of early Dan Snaith records are set to get a limited vinyl reissue.

Snaith’s former home Leaf are gearing up to put out the producer’s first three LPs, all of which have long been out of print on vinyl. 2001’s Start Breaking My Heart, released as Manitoba, is a delicate collection of jazzy electronica and pastoral 2-step. 2003’s Up In Flames, also issued under Snaith’s pre-Caribou moniker, sees Snaith broaden his horizons substantially, incorporating shoegaze, C86 jangle and psych-pop into the mix. Finally, 2005’s The Milk Of Human Kindness – released as Caribou following a legal challenge from The Dictators’ Handsome Dick Manitoba- shows Snaith beginning to tinker with the Krautrock and dance influences that would permeate his later work.

All three records will be issued on coloured vinyl, and will come bundled with a supplementary CD copy. Interestingly, the cover art for the first two albums has been retroactively altered to replace “Manitoba” with “Caribou”. A full, non-coloured vinyl release will also follow on May 6

Record Store Day takes place on April 20. You can read our 2012 interview with Snaith here. [via Exclaim]
