Watch Theo Parrish craft a track at a charity workshop

On May 7, the Detroit legend will take part in an open workshop entitled “Experience of Creation.”

The event benefits Gilles Peterson’s Steve Reid Foundation, an organization started to “help musicians in crisis and to support emerging talent”  [via Dummy].

50 guests will be able to watch Parrish make a track at the event, and he will be accepting suggestions (until April 24) for “the sample palette,” via tweets that mention @SteveReidFNDN with the hashtag #SRF. NTS Radio’s Tony Nwachukwu will host the workshop, and £20 tickets are available now.

“People will have the rare opportunity to witness a process that is usually private and personal. We’ll be ‘sonic strip teasing’ from needle drop to a full-blown idea,” says Parrish of the event. “Creating will take place in real time and people will be able to interact with me in a space of learning and creativity.”
