Pop icons reunited?

Agnetha Fältskog, ABBA’s blonde singer and the member who’s long been seen as the foot-dragger when it comes to reunion proposals, has hinted that the four-piece may get together next year to mark the 40th anniversary of their single ‘Waterloo’.

In an interview with German newspaper Welt Am Sonntag, Fältskog revealed that there are plans to celebrate the event but that she doesn’t yet know what will come of them.

“There are probably plans to make a big deal of the anniversary,” said the 63-year-old, adding that she wouldn’t want to waste energy worrying about a reunion. “If such an event should take place, and I knew it was going to happen in advance, I would stress myself out over it,” she explained, adding that it would have to be something “not thought about – just done.”

Fältskog and her bandmates Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson have not performed together since 1982. This year the group’s ABBA Gold compilation became the second best-selling album in UK chart history, overtaking The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (the biggest seller remaining Queen’s Greatest Hits).

Fältskog released her latest album, titled A, this spring. A deluxe version of the record featuring a one-hour documentary is due out on November 22.
