DMX will fight George Zimmerman in charity boxing match

Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman has told CNN that George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin, will fight DMX in his forthcoming charity boxing match

Last week, it was confirmed that Zimmerman – a “celebrity” on the strength of one lone incident, lest we forget – had confirmed a televised boxing match with Feldman, the man behind bizarre previous match-ups such as disgraced ice skater Tonya Harding vs. Paula Jones, the Arkansas state employee who sued Bill Clinton for sexual harassment in 1997.

Although Feldman claimed that “we’re not looking at [the fight] as a race thing”, we all knew that Zimmerman’s opponent would end up black, with The Game immediately coming forward and offering to fight him. “I would not be boxing for me,” he told TMZ, “I’d be boxing for the legacy of Trayvon Martin and for his family.” Game has a tattoo of Martin on his leg.

If that seemed a bad idea, then the reality’s far worse: Feldman has told CNN that despite his email being overloaded with “more than 15,000 requests”, he’s settled with DMX as Zimmerman’s opponent. If years of run-ins with drugs and the police didn’t prove it, then last year’s appearance on TV show Fix My Life definitely did: DMX is a man with serious mental health problems, and given that he also filed for bankruptcy last year, could presumably do with the money.

Update: DMX offered some typically choice quotes to TMZ earlier this week, when he revealed he wanted to fight Zimmerman “for every black person who has been done wrong in the system” (we’re guessing he’s referring to himself there).

He colorfully stated, “I am going to beat the living fuck out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I fuck him right up.” Then things took a turn for the weird though, as DMX added “once I am done with him, I am going to whip my dick out and piss on him … right in his muthafuckin face. Zimmerman is a piece of shit and that’s what he needs to drink.”

Update 2: DMX’s camp have announced that while they have entertained the idea of the fight, nothing has been signed and a fight is far from confirmed. Domenick Nati told AllHipHop “The boxing match between George Zimmerman and DMX is not officially confirmed. DMX has promised to “beat his ass”, but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet. DMX will release an official statement if and when an agreement is made.”

More details of the fight are promised next week.
