Voodoo Down launches Rock And Roll Records offshoot with EP of twisting house from Hauser/Quaid

Brooklyn label kicks off with four top-notch tracks from former Eats Tapes member.

Voodoo Down Records will launch its Rock And Roll Records offshoot this month with an EP from DJ, live performer and video artist Greg Zifcak, or Greg Z. Also known as one half of the Bay Area band Eats Tapes, Greg is a resident DJ at the Tunnel Vision in Brooklyn alongside Ital and Lori Napoleon.

Adopting the moniker Hauser/Quaid – a reference that fans of Total Recall will enjoy – Zifcak’s four-track Meli Gala EP is a loopy, rough-edged beast that leans on crunchy samples and FM modulation – hear samples of all four diverse tracks below.

Rock And Roll Records will be run by Voodoo Down boss Sean Phillips and Alex Hamadey with a mission statement to release “left-field dance jams and old, dusty synth electronic”.

Hauser/Quaid’s Meli Gala EP is out on vinyl later this month, with a digital release also planned. [via RA]
