The post-punkers’ essential concert film available digitally for the first time.
Talking Heads will mark 30 years since the release of Stop Making Sense – arguably the best live document of any band, ever – with a digital release and a run of screenings across US theatres.
The film (also released as a live album) is a unique interpretation of the band at their creative peak, with director Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) cutting out the audience and making use of long shots and stark lighting to place the focus solely on the band, including David Byrne in his now-iconic out-sized suit.
Screenings started last Saturday in Ithaca, NY, and continue tonight in Pleasantville, NY – see the full list of dates below the video montage of SMS highlights. The digital release arrives via Palm on July 15. [via CoS]
An unreleased Talking Heads song recorded at CBGB’s in 1976 surfaced last year – check out ‘Theme’.
