Maverick popstar Nick Nicely returns with 'HeadwindAheadwind' – hear Secret Circuit's swirling remix

The greatest popstar that never was gets remixed by LA synth voyager.

After appearing on labels like Captured Tracks, Burger Records and Emotional Response in recent years, British pop maverick Nick Nicely returns this summer with Space Of A Second, his first proper release on a UK label since his brief spell on EMI in the ’80s.

Due on Lo Recordings sometime in September, the first taste of the album is ‘HeadwindAheadwind’, a shoegazey and blissfully psychedelic number that recalls the warped pop of John Maus.

The single is accompanied by an deliciously squelchy remix from Secret Circuit, AKA multi-aliased LA analogue tinkerer Eddie Ruscha, the man behind a raft of intriguing self-released albums and last year’s Tactile Galactics on Beats In Space.

Hear Secret Circuit’s remix below and the original track underneath – the single’s out on July 14. For more on Nicely, check FACT’s 2012 interview with the cult hero about his decades-long psychedelic mission.
