David Bowie kept a fur-covered "pit" for orgies with friends including Mick Jagger, claims new biography

Bowie’s polymorphously perverse sex life undressed in new book.

David Bowie once kept a four-foot-deep, fur-covered bed – nicknamed “the pit” – in his living room for orgies with famous friends, claims author Wendy Leigh in a new sex-fuelled biography of the pop icon.

“Angie and David used to have the most amazing orgies at Oakley St. Everybody fucked everybody in the pit. Mick Jagger used to come there and be involved with sexual things,” writes Leigh in her just published book, Bowie, which digs into the star’s long-rumoured affair with the Stones singer.

The author spoke to Bowie’s friends, former lovers, business associates and other industry insiders as part of her seedy quest to expose the star’s wild sex life. In extracts published in the New York Daily News, Leigh claims that Bowie and his first wife, Angie, “were notorious about weaving a sexual web around those who took their fancy” and met while they were having an affair with the same man.

Leigh writes that Susan Sarandon, Marianne Faithfull and Ronnie Spector all slept with Bowie during his promiscuous period, with the Ronettes’ singer telling Leigh that she went to meet the naked pop star in his bedroom after walking by a coffee table covered with cocaine in his hotel suite. Cocaine! Sex! Whatever next in a rock biography?!

Other lurid details in the book include the revelation that Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash walked in on a naked Bowie with his mother, Ola Hudson, as an eight year old. More dirty laundry can be sniffed over at the Daily Mail.

Bowie recently announced a new compilation album, Nothing Has Changed, which includes several rarities and an eight-minute long single – check out a photo from the promo campaign.
