Moog's build-it-yourself Werkstatt-Ø1 synth gets worldwide release

DIY synth now available to all.

Moog has announced the worldwide release of its Werkstatt-Ø1, a build-it-yourself single oscillator synth.

Originally created as an educational tool for teaching electronics assembly techniques and analogue circuit design at Moogfest 2014, the synth allows you to piece together several of the classic Moog circuits (VCO, 4-pole Moog Ladder filter, LFO and more) with no soldering or special skills required. The company put a few on sale in the US in June, but now the synth is being made available worldwide.

As well as being easy to assemble, the $329 kit is intended to be completely hackable – so Moog has also launched the Werkstatt Workshop, a website full of project ideas, tutorials, 3D printer files and other tools to provide inspiration and guidance for DIY tinkerers.
