Donald Glover

The show is moving forward at FX.

Last year, former Community star Donald Glover (aka rapper Childish Gambino) appeared set to write, executive produce and act in a comedy he created. The show, tentatively titled Atlanta is about two cousins in that city’s rap scene. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Glover plays Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks, “a college drop-out who who finds sudden fame with he teams up with his estranged relation.”

FX has taken the next step with the show, ordering a pilot. The cable network has a strong comedy record, airing shows like Louie and Archer; it also launched It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League before those shows moved to sister network FXX.

Pure speculation: Atlanta as The League of Atlanta rap? Who wouldn’t want to see Young Thug, Rome Fortune or the Awful Records crew on TV?
