The long-delayed Tupac biopic is finally set to start filming

It looks like the Makaveli movie is actually coming together.

A biopic on the life of Tupac has been in the works for some years. After a host of false starts and disagreements over who owned the rights to the rapper’s remarkable story, producer Randall Emmett revealed that the film is finally set to begin filming in June.

“That project is being put together for a June start date,” said Emmett. “The script is great and we’re ready to make the movie… We’re just prepping the logistics.”

Emmett confirmed that the film’s producers have secured the rights to Tupac’s music from the late icon’s estate, which is managed by his mother, Afeni Shakur.

Emmett did not reveal who will play the title role. [via Complex]
