Bid on an original drawing by the Canadian musician.

Earlier this year, a Kickstarter was launched to fund the National Observer, a forthcoming publication from the people behind the Vancouver Observer which will report on Canada’s energy policy and environmental issues.

Vancouver-born Grimes has been a vocal supporter of the National Observer since its launch. As well as lending her music to the Observer’s Kickstarter campaign, Grimes has now donated some original artwork to further support the cause. Up for auction is an original pen and ink drawing she created for her single ‘Go’, as well as a limited edition poster featuring the art from her new Bleachers collaboration ‘Entropy’.

Grimes took to Tumblr to explain her support for the organisation: “The main reason I love the Observer is for their dedication to Canada’s environmental issues. How the Canadian gov has been silencing nonprofits with audits, and basically acting like complete creeps, taking money from oil companies, ignoring the communities who are noticing health issues related to tar sands or fracking, the massive environmental damage from oil spills—all that kinda stuff. The observer has broken a bunch of important stories and won awards for their journalism. If we don’t stay aware and actively shut down proposals like keystone XL there could be massive environmental/social consequences in and outside Canada.”

You can bid on the items here and here. [via Pitchfork]
