Pharrell joins Jimmy Fallon in revisiting “The American Powerhour”.

Earlier this year The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon had a joke where Don Cheadle alluded to an 80s musical public access show called “American Powerhour” that used to film in the studio. This prompted a clipshow of resurfaced performances from an R&B group that was really just host Fallon and Cheadle performing some hilariously bad songs. Last night the sketch returned with Fallon and guest Pharrell. The two appeared as Afro & Deziak, an R&B group whose love songs have an unfortunate tendency to build up to extremely unromantic requests like “let’s go camping with my uncle!” or “can you throw a baby shower for my boss’s daughter?”

You can watch the sketch below. If you’re interested in more Pharrell check out our countdown of his 50 best tracks, and if you’re interested in the real 80s musical public access show they’re spoofing then you’re ready to climb The Stairway To Stardom.
