Marie Davidson takes a cinematic trip on Un Autre Voyage; stream the LP in full

The Montreal artist returns with her second album.

The music of Marie Davidson fuses the mechanical sounds of synths and sequencers with her own French and English lyrics, touching on techno, electro and more in a personal approach to experimental electronic pop.

Next week, the Montreal artist will follow-up last year’s Perte D’Identité with Un Autre Voyage, an album that confronts the man-versus-machine tension of her work. Un Autre Voyage means either “Another Journey” or “Another Trip” in French; Davidson says deciding on a meaning is left up to the listener. “I like to leave head-space for people to trip and decide how they feel about it.”

“There’s a duality in my work,” she told FACT at SXSW. “Erasing yourself and trying to connect with the soul of machines, but at the same time, I’m a writer of lyrics and poetry, and that is the woman, human, soul aspect of my work.”

Recorded solo and engineered and mixed by husband Pierre Guerineau, Un Autre Voyage bounds from “upbeat, dancefloor-oriented tracks” like lead single ‘Balade aux USA’ to “weird soundtrack pieces” like ‘Kidnap You In The Desert’. A “cinematic” effort, “it is something that is meant to be listened to from the first track to the last” — which you can do below.

Un Autre Voyage is due out on April 14 via Holodeck Records. Her tour dates follow.
