The Queens-born artist was reportedly killed after a gunman opened fire on his car.
According to a report from ABC, the incident happened early on Sunday morning (May 17), when a vehicle pulled up beside the Coke Boys rapper and his passenger on Queens Boulevard and fired multiple rounds inside their car.
Chinx – otherwise known as 31-year old Lionel Pickens – was shot multiple times in the torso, with the other as yet unidentified person seriously wounded and in critical condition in Jamaica Hospital.
Formerly known as Chinx Drugs, Pickens was signed to French Montana’s Coke Boys Music, first meeting Montana in 2009 and released his first solo mixtape Hurry Up & Die Vol. 1: Get Ya Casket On shortly afterwards. Most recently he released the Cocaine Riot mixtape series, and the I’ll Take It From Here EP. He was working on his debut album Welcome To JFK at the time of his death.
