Veteran rap writer Andrew Nosnitsky (aka Noz) has opened Park Blvd Records in Oakland, CA.
Nine months ago, Noz, who is best known for helming the influential Cocaine Blunts blog, tweeted that there wasn’t a store in Oakland where you could reliably buy a Too Short album. For rap fans, this is a sore point – 1987’s influential Born To Mack helped put Oakland on the map as an international rap mecca. Thankfully, Noz has remedied the problem by opening his own record store.
A joint venture with fellow blogger 12ManRambo, Park Blvd Records will sell records, tapes and CDs, and from the Instagram shot below, it looks as if they already have a solid inventory. For now the store will be open from Tuesday-Sunday from 12-7pm, and is located at 2014 Park Blvd (hence the name). You can check out the website here, and follow the new store on Twitter here.
