Mumford and Sons musician Winston Marshall has been dabbling in techno.

Initially dubbing himself The Floppy Disc Jockey, he settled on the name Tech No Notice for his electronic side-project – but it looks as though the results will never see the light of day.

Speaking to NME, the banjo-bearer said he had his rave conversion while working on his new album with Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford.

“Simian Mobile Disco changed my life. They put me onto the EDM world. Although they would hate that term, they’re more techno,” said Marshall.

“When we were producing the record with James Ford, he had a residency at XOYO in London and nobody else went but I went every week. They were good times. I got absolutely smashed and had some of the best nights of my life. I became obsessed with Simian Mobile Disco’s music and poorly attempted to make my own techno music.”

He added: “The trick to techno, as a connoisseur, is that you got to do two things: keep your hands down and your mouth shut.”
