Stephen Colbert invites Lamar for another late night TV performance.

Eight months ago, Kendrick Lamar performed as the last ever musical guest on The Colbert Report. The Compton rapper’s friendship with Colbert is set to come full circle with Lamar lined up to be the first musical guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Colbert revealed the news at the Television Critics Association press tour stop on Monday. “My last musical guest [on The Colbert Report] was Kendrick Lamar, and I would love for him to be my first musical guest,” he joked. “In fact he will be my first musical guest.”

Stephen Colbert’s Late Show begins on September 8.
