Microsoft has announced the end of Zune, the brand launched in 2006 as the company’s answer to the iPod and iTunes.

All Zune services will be turned off on November 15, meaning the few remaining users who still use them will have to join the rest of us on Spotify or iTunes.

The demise of Zune has been a long time coming – the Zune hardware was discontinued in 2011, though Microsoft has confirmed your precious Zune hardware will continue to function, in case you were in any doubt.

Though Zune will be gone, Microsoft still has another music service on the go – Groove, which was formerly Xbox Music.
