Blake shares a mournful cover of Simon & Garfunkel on his Radio 1 show.

James Blake returned to his BBC Radio 1 Residency on Thursday night, joined in the studio by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. The pair discussed a number of topics, including the possibility of bringing the Brit and his 1-800-Dinosaur colleagues to perform at Vernon’s own Eaux Claires music festival in Wisconsin.

Blake closed out the show by airing a previously unheard cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound Of Silence’, dedicated to a friend who passed away on New Year’s Eve. Blake replaces the original’s rippling guitar with tearjerking synths but largely remains faithful to Simon & Garfunkel’s version.
