Camera Obscura’s Carey Lander has died.

In 2011, Lander was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. In August of this year, Camera Obscura cancelled all live shows to accommodate Lander’s treatment.

The Glasgow band announced the tragic news via Facebook on Sunday. “It is with the greatest sadness, that we must share the news that Carey passed away peacefully this morning after her illness with cancer. We have lost our friend and band mate, and our deepest sympathy goes out to her partner Kenny, and to all her family and friends.”

Carey Lander joined Camera Obscura in 2002, appearing on all of the band’s records from 2003’s Underachivers Please Try Harder to 2013’s Desire Lines. Lander was primarily known as a keyboardist but regularly lent her voice to the band.

Lander’s bandmates are continuing to campaign on her behalf, raising money for bone and soft tissue cancer charity Sarcoma UK. In Lander’s campaign to raise money for Sarcoma UK, she wrote: “It’s probably too late to help me, but it would be great if we could find something in the future that means children don’t have to undergo such awful treatment and have a better chance of survival.”
