The app is one of the first music apps to support Apple’s new 3D Touch technology.
Native Instruments has launched a new version of its iMaschine app for iOS, expanding the original’s beat sketching capabilities with a host of extra features that bring it closer to the Maschine hardware and enable the creation of full tracks.
The key addition to iMaschine 2 is support for 3D Touch, the new technology inside Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus that allows the screen to detect force. While this allows for speedier navigation of the app, it also adjusts the dynamics of a beat depending on how hard you press the pad.
Native Instruments has also added new features that expand the app’s track creation capabilities. While the original had a simple four-track mixer that allowed you to record melodic phrases and drum loops, iMaschine 2 comes with an arranger, step mode, and a “Smart Play” mode with the easy-to-use chord, scale and arpeggio functionality of the company’s Komplete Kontrol keyboards.
iMaschine 2 is available now from the App Store at an introductory price of £3.99/$4.99. You can check the app out in the video below.
