The British-French poet, pianist and composer Benjamin Clementine is now joint favourite to win this year’s Mercury Prize.

Bookmakers cut their odds on Clementine taking home the prize for his album, At Least For Now, after he attracted over 50% of all Mercury bets in the last 48 hours.

“Nearly 90% of all bets today have been for either Jamie xx or Benjamin Clementine and it appears increasingly likely that one of those two will pick up this year’s Mercury Prize,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Clementine is now joint favourite to win with Jamie xx, both at 5/2, with Eska at 8/1 and Wolf Alice at 7/1.

The winner will be announced tonight (November 20) in a live broadcast starting 9.30pm GMT on BBC4. We’d quite like Róisín to win.
