The bassist continues his war against his former bandmates.

Peter Hook is suing his ex-bandmates in New Order over royalties, claiming that he has lost out on more than £2.3m since 2011, when they set up a company to manage the band’s income without him.

Hook has accused Bernard Sumner and Stephen and Gillian Morris of “pillaging” the group’s assets, while the trio maintains that Hook has been treated fairly. Judge David Cooke ruled that the complaint can move to a full trial at a High Court hearing.

Hook left the band in 2007, and in 2011, the trio created a new company and granted it worldwide exclusive rights to the New Order name and related sources of income for a decade, a move Hook’s lawyer describes as “clandestine, premeditated and deliberate.” While Hook is receiving 1.25% of the band’s income, he wants up to 12.5%, or wants to “rejoin the band.” [via BBC]
