The orchestral pop two-piece snuck into the Queen’s gaff for a surprise performance.

Cat’s Eyes blagged their way into Buckingham Palace last month disguised as a Renaissance music ensemble to play a track from their new album in front of unwitting guests.

Their mission, which was captured on video and via singer Faris Badwan’s spy cam, took them inside the Queen’s Gallery where they performed ‘We’ll Be Waiting’ to a guests at a private art talk.

In the video, Badwan is accompanied by Cat’s Eyes partner Rachel Zeffira, playing a wind instrument called the dulican, and five other musicians from a Renaissance musical ensemble. You can also hear a palace official questioning the pair’s credentials in a phone call – but they basically got away with it.

The band have got previous form when it comes to daring shows – back in 2011 they snuck into the Vatican to play their debut gig with a choir in front of an audience of cardinals.

More recently they provided the eerie soundtrack to Peter Strickland’s erotic thriller The Duke of Burgundy. [via The Guardian]
