Prince is back at the top of the charts.

The Very Best Of Prince and Purple Rain are currently #1 and #2 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart following Prince’s death on April 21.

The Very Best Of sold the equivalent of 179,000 albums, 100,000 of which were traditional album sales (the rest were based on streaming), while Purple Rain sold 69,000 copies, 63,000 of which were traditional sales.

Prince was cremated in a private ceremony yesterday. Though his funeral was private, his family intends to host a “musical celebration” of Prince’s life at a later date.

Prince’s brother-in-law Maurice Phillips has claimed that his relative “worked for 154 hours straight” without sleep in the days before he was found dead.

Sufjan Stevens and LCD Soundsystem were among many acts paying tribute to Prince at Coachella, with the former teaming up with Gallant for a cover of ‘Purple Rain’ – watch fan footage below.
