From the snooker table to the turntables.

Six-time snooker champion Steve Davis will be DJing Stonebridge Bar during this year’s Glastonbury Festival in June. In the 1980s, Davis was ranked #1 in the world for seven consecutive seasons and won the World Championship in the game six times. He now hosts a radio show in Essex playing all sorts of FACT-friendly music.

When asked what he’ll be playing at the fest, he told the BBC: “Stuff that’s a bit more complicated and a little bit more leftfield than ‘doof, doof, doof’.” Davis, who presented a pool competition at this year’s Bloc, also said: “It’s not necessarily techno. We’re playing some stuff that’s electronic and some that will appeal that people who are into IDM.”

“It’s quite strange. I’ve been doing a radio show in Brentwood, and I’ve joined forces with a musician, Kavus Torabi, who’s been in a few bands over the years,” he said of his post-snooker following. “We’ve got quite a mini following online, it’s a little bit culty.”

Glastobury takes place June 22-26 and will feature performances from PJ Harvey, Skepta and Grimes, among others. Coldplay is set to headline.
