Techno’s best live band are to release a rare 12″.

Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance is launching a new label offshoot called 4EVR 4WRD with an EP from Mike Banks’s Timeline group, RA reports.

There’s no confirmed release date for the EP, but a teaser video has been on YouTube since January, and a Discogs entry for the record was added a few days ago to go with the band’s earlier confirmation on Facebook.

Timeline is Underground Resistance’s live “high-tech jazz” band. It’s seen various line-ups over the years, but currently consists of UR co-founder Banks, Jon Dixon, Mark Flash and De’Sean Jones.

The two-track Forever Forward EP will only be the fourth record to be released by Timeline since 2004, and follows 2014’s The Conscious Dream EP.

The story of Underground Resistance forms part of a forthcoming exhibition on Detroit techno, taking place at London’s ICA from July 27 to September 25.

Timeline will play at this month’s Sónar Festival in Barcelona – more on that here.
