Nelly joins the ranks with Eminem, OutKast and just a handful more.

Nelly’s 2000 debut Country Grammar has now officially been certified diamond by the RIAA. This means the album has sold 10 million units. Of course, this distinction means something a little bit different now that streaming has changed the rules of how album sales are calculated.

10 streams of one song is the equivalent to an album sale, so it’s likely this figured in to this distinction. (On Spotify alone, Country Grammar hit ‘Ride Wit Me’ has over 58 million spins, while the tile track is his fifth most popular with just over 25 million.)

The seven other rap albums that have gone diamond are The Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death, OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, Tupac’s All Eyez On Me and Greatest Hits and, of course, M.C. Hammer’s Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em.
