Donald Glover has won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for his role of Earnest “Earn” Marks on Atlanta. He beats out Jeffrey Tambor for Transparent, Anthony Anderson for Black-ish, Gael García Bernal for Mozart in the Jungle, and Nick Nolte for Graves.

Atlanta (which also won for Best Comedy TV Series) was one of 2016’s most innovative new shows – Glover referred to it as “Twin Peaks with rappers”. He also pushed the boundaries of his musical alter ego Childish Gambino last year, as well, trading nerdy raps for Funkadelic inspiration on his album “Awaken, My Love!”.
