They might dress in black robes and make hour-long drones, but Sunn O))) can also be quite accommodating.

Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson’s latest fan-friendly move is to dump their entire back catalogue on Bandcamp, so even brand new fans have access to the host of rarities that made it to the hands of only a select few. Sunn O))) are one of the more daunting acts to begin getting involved with at this late stage, so with any luck this move will allow listeners to take a punt where not so long ago it might have seemed a little bit too much. For the more dedicated fans, it’s the whole catalogue, including the sometimes painfully tough-to-source releases like live recordings, remixes and the monolithic slab of doom, the Veils It White.

If you’re looking for a place to start, our pick would be Sunn O)))’s sprawling epic, Black One. It’s an album that not only brings together Anderson and O’Malley’s obsession with Black Sabbath and black metal, but plays like a proper record, with real songs and everything (sort of). Go on, give it a try, what’s the worst that could happen? (via The Quietus)
