Pharrell's Grammys hat bought by Arby's restaurant chain for $44,000

U.S. restaurant coughs up in charity auction.

The Vivienne Westwood hat worn by Pharrell at this year’s Grammy Awards has been auctioned for $44,100 (£26,377) on eBay.

The meme-spawning millinery, which was sold to raise money for the charity From One Hand To Another, and was snapped up by U.S. restaurant chain Arby’s.

The official Arby’s Twitter had commented on the hat when Pharrell showed it off on the Grammys red carpet in January, noting the similarity to the 10 gallon hat in its official logo.

Replying to Pharrell’s tweet after the auction, the restaurant representatives said they were happy to “get our hat back”.

Pharrell is currently back at number one in the UK singles chart with his Oscar-nominated single ‘Happy’, boosted by last night’s awards ceremony, but his second solo album G I R L, released last week, didn’t exactly win the heart of FACT reviewer Chris Kelly.
