Damon Albarn also says that the band have up to 45 more Gorillaz songs.

On his Beats 1 show later today, Zane Lowe is due to premiere a new Gorillaz song featuring Pusha T and Mavis Staples, titled ‘Let Me Out’.

Ahead of the broadcast, Apple has shared a clip of Lowe’s interview with Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn. During the clip, Albarn reveals that the virtual band have still got a pile of tracks left that didn’t make it onto the new album.

“I’m just sort of slowly going through all tunes that sort of didn’t work out and finishing them,” explained Albarn, who added that these tracks include a collaboration with Little Simz. The UK artist is not currently among the guests already featured on the band’s forthcoming 19-track album.

According to the former Blur frontman, Gorillaz have about 40 or 45 surplus songs, which he says means he “can stay in the game for at least another 18 months.”

Humanz is the Gorrilaz’ first album in six years and includes a massive list of guest artists, including Grace Jones, Mavis Staples, Carly Simon, Danny Brown, De La Soul, Kali Uchis, Kelela, Vince Staples and D.R.A.M. It’s out April 28.
