Before we bid you adieu for the week, allow us to draw your attention once more to our unmissable and FREE party at The Lock Tavern in London this Sunday.

Being July 4, we’ve given the bash a spurious ‘Independence Day Special’ sub-title – there’ll be no “Oh say can you see” business going on (at least none planned) , but there will be an all-day terrace BBQ and a monster line-up of, er, independent music. Our headlining DJs are Guido (pictured), the Bristol producer whose recent grime and R&B-inflected Anidea album for Punch Drunk arguably eclipses all recent work by his old muckers Joker and Gemmy, and Pearson Sound – the inspired house alter ego of Ramadanman. With support from Infrasonics’ garage master XXXY and your trusty FACT DJs bringing up the rear, we’re sure you’ll agree that there’s really no better way to spend a sunny Sunday. See you there.

This week on the FACT site we took time to interview enigmatic dream-pop duo jj, gave an early track-by-track verdict of the hugely anticipated debut album from Salem, and presented our guide to the best records of a minimal techno legend in The Essential…Robert Hood.

In news we reported on mouthwatering new releases from Urban Tribe, Trunk Records, Drums of Death, Ninja Tune, Wavves, Suicide, Zed Bias, Antony & The Johnsons, Big Boi, Kompakt, LA Vampires and Zola Jesus, while The-Dream, Paul White, Ben Klock and DVA Damas were put through their paces in reviews.

Last but not least, don’t forget to download and listen to our latest two FACT mixes: an unashamedly banging selection from UK funky star Lil Silva and, by contrast, a strung-out psychedelic odyssey from Oneohtrix Point Never. Both essential.

Mainly, though, we’ve just been watching this. You ought to do the same, and have a good weekend.
