Detroit’s most lucrative son will return with a new album in the New Year.

The rapper revealed the news in somewhat unconventional fashion, releasing the information through the medium of the baseball cap. Said telling headgear – a limited edition Eminem Baseball Tribute Hat dedicated to Detroit – has appeared on Eminem’s official store, and features a side panel “dedicated to the landmark Eminem solo albums”. Eagle-eyed fans will spot that 2013 appears on the side of the cap.

Eminem’s last album was 2010’s Recovery, which proved a significant commercial force but something off a critical damp squib. He also recently popped up on rap supergroup Slaughterhouse’s Welcome to: Our House LP [via Hypetrak]
