Time was when a new transmission from Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye would stop the internet dead in its tracks. Now you can’t open Chrome without another goodie tumbling out of your browser.

We’ve already had written confessionsfresh videos and unheard tracks, and now Tesfaye’s released as-yet-unreleased new song. ‘Valerie’, which has been tacked onto the tail end of Thursday as part of the forthcoming Trilogy collection, was premiered by BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe last night. Things it is: caliginous, spotted with industrial clatter, bolstered by one of Tesfaye’s strongest vocal performances to date. Things it isn’t: a Zutons cover, thank Christ.

If that’s not enough, Tesfaye has also dropped a psychedelic video for Thursday cut ‘The Zone’. The clip recreates that record’s original album cover (although the model has been awkwardly subbed in for a different one, Sam MItchell style). As on the record, Tesfaye cheerleader Drake makes a surprise appearance. [via RapDose]

Trilogy is due on November 13.

Update: Lowe premiered the final new addition to Trilogy, ‘Till Dawn (Here Comes The Sun)’, featuring Tesfaye at his most MJ. [via XO]
