Premiere: Visionist brings the voodoo eski on new track 'In & Out'

Rita Maia, host of electronic music show Sine Of The Times on arts station (and national treasure) Resonance FM, is gearing up to drop her first compilation.

Sine Of The Times will feature offerings from colourful Sri Lankan producer My Panda Shall Fly, Simbad (in the form of a Bongos Ikwue remix), LV’s dFranklin and Circle Traps’ Will Ward. FACT have the first play of the closing track on the compilation, supplied by dancefloor stalker Visionist, and it’s further proof that the Keysound affiliate has come into command of a sound that’s just about entirely his own.

As per Logos’ ‘Kowloon’, ‘In & Out’ centres around a wheezing, frost-flecked synth motif. Visionist’s lower-end, though, is where the dark magic really happens, offering an uneasy blend of hydraulic SFX and skittering percussion. Visionist’s already kicked off the year with a neat reading of grime set text ‘Pulse X’ for Liminal Sounds’ new package, and his Lost Codes label appears to be gathering momentum – expect to encounter his strange grime/funky/dark ambient hybrids with increasing regularity in 2013.

‘Sine Of The Times’ airs on Resonance FM, Saturdays, 9 pm, 104.4 FM. Maia is also planning a launch party for the collection at the Notting Hill Arts Club on February 8, with spots from LV, Visionist, Will Ward, Simbad and My Panda Shall Fly – head here for more information. The compilation is expected to drop soon.
